We love to sew, but sometimes the art of sewing gets lost in the internal expectation that we need to produce garment after garment. We focus on quicker techniques and praise short-cuts and forget that slow and simple not only creates beautiful items, but can be a fabulous way to sew for our mental health and clarity. Join me this month as we slow it down to hand sew a simple embroidered snap pouch. We will be following a tutorial from Arounna Khounnoraj to learn simple hand sewing and embroidery stitches by creating a simple snap pouch. No prior sewing experience is necessary, but creativity is a must.
What to bring:
- fabric : This is a great opportunity to use up your scraps! Little or big, bring some pieces you have that bring you joy.
- All other materials and notions needed will be provided. If you want to bring your own, here’s a list of what we will be using:
All-purpose hand sewing needles
Cotton batting - 1/4 yard
Embroidery Floss / Sewing Thread - scraps
Snaps - 8 or 10mm
You may also shop the Maker’s Mart at the City Sewing Room the day of the event. All fabric and notions are donated from the community and there is always something unique. (Most everything is just $2 a pound so you can plan to stock up!).
If we do not meet the required minimum number of participants for a class at the City Sewing Room (3) I will let you know 24 hours before the event via email and will refund your class fee. Due to this, please send in your administration fee no later than 48 hours before the class.
The cost of this event is $30 and limited to 6 participants. Register for the event by filling out the form below and sending in your registration payment through PayPal or Venmo.
