You all have been asking me to host a bag sew-along for months now, so I’m finally fulfilling my promise. This month we will be sewing the indie darling from Fibre Mood : the Mehri Bag. With it’s cute details and ample size, this is going to become a fav. (And I have a feeling you are going to get asked by your friends to make one for them!)
This is an Advanced Beginner / Intermediate level pattern, so to take this class you must understand how to use a sewing machine and also understand basic sewing techniques. (It would also be very helpful if you’ve sewn a bag before, but I’m there to help if you want to challenge yourself). You are welcome to bring your own machine or use one at the city sewing room.
What to bring:
- fabric : You will need both an outer and lining fabric for this project. The options are endless with this one and would be perfect in canvas or upholstery for the outer fabric for a heavier weight bag, or a lightweight cotton for both outer and lining fabrics would be perfectly suitable too.
- pattern : Make sure to purchase and tape together your pattern before attending the event. (Trust me - you won’t regret getting it out of the way!) Get the bag pattern here
You may also shop the Maker’s Mart at the City Sewing Room the evening of the event. Their fabric is donated from the community and there is always something unique. (plus most is only $2 a pound so you can plan to get enough for a few bags!).
If we do not meet the required minimum number of participants for a class at the City Sewing Room (3) I will let you know 24 hours before the event via email and will refund your class fee. Due to this, please send in your administration fee no later than 48 hours before the class.
The cost of this event is $30 and limited to 6 participants. Register for the event by filling out the form below and sending in your registration payment through PayPal or Venmo.
