Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!
**************
Join me this month at Black Hole Studio as we sew the newly released pattern that’s perfect for your twirly summer nights - the Sabrina Skirt from BF Patterns. With curved seams and optional waist ties, the details make this one special.
We will be working through the pattern together, but you are welcome to work faster than the class pace if you feel comfortable. I want everyone to feel included and be able to participate with the group according to their comfort level.
Sewing elements to learn with this one:
understanding pattern sizing & adjustments
sewing on a curve
gathering
pockets!
sewing a lining (optional)
sewing an elastic waist
What to bring:
- fabric : The pattern calls for a lightweight woven fabric - think floaty & summery. The amount of fabric needed will depend on your fabric width & pattern size. Make sure to wash your fabric before you get to class. (No one wants their finished garment shrinking!!)
- notions : matching sewing thread
- pattern : Please bring your printed pattern to the class ready to use. Find the pattern HERE
- sewing machine: There are 3 studio machines up for grabs, but you are welcome to bring your own machine. Details on how to reserve a studio machine are listed below.
