Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!
**************
Join me this month at the newly opened Black Hole Studio as we sew the freshly released pants pattern that has the indie sewing community swooning: the Weekend Chore Pants from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. Fabric scrap lovers rejoice - these pants are screaming for you to use all those delicious off-cuts you couldn’t part with. The options are endless!
These pants may look difficult, but they are perfect for the sewist that has a few projects under their belt and is looking to dip their toe into the pants universe.
We will go through the project together from start to finish, but you are welcome to work faster than the class pace if you feel comfortable. I want everyone to feel included and be able to participate with the group according to their comfort level.
Some elements you will be learning as you sew are:
understanding pattern sizing
sewing with scraps / fabric play
sewing an elastic waist
What to bring:
- fabric : Bring all your woven scraps! I recommend you bring them all and decide how you want them to be used with your pattern pieces laid out. Be adventurous with your choices!
- notions : matching sewing thread
- pattern : Please bring your printed pattern to the class ready to use. Find the pattern HERE
- sewing machine: There are 3 studio machines up for grabs, but you are welcome to bring your own machine. Details on how to reserve a studio machine are listed below.
