Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!
Join me as we sew the beloved Envelope Dress from Cris Wood Sews. This pattern has it all; it’s a no-waste, size inclusive pattern that is perfect for basic sewists that are ready to jump into the garment world. The pattern pieces are based on your specific body measurements, so you are sure to get a fabulous fit! And since all the pattern pieces are rectangles, there’s no intermediate sewing techniques to worry about. (BUT for those of you that want some variations from the basic, there’s even an expansion pack pattern available for more options!).
To take this class you must understand how to use and be comfortable sewing on a sewing machine, and ready to learn new techniques.
You are welcome to bring your own machine or use one at the city sewing room.
What to bring:
- fabric : Fabric choice will completely change the way this dress looks. For your first one, I suggest a medium weight, woven fabric with at least a little bit of drape.
- pattern : Make sure to purchase and look over your pattern before attending the event so you can hit the ground running. Get the pattern here.
You may also shop the Maker’s Mart at the City Sewing Room the evening of the event. Their fabric is donated from the community and there is always something unique. (plus most is only $2 a pound so you can plan to get enough for a few garments!).
The cost of this event is $30 and limited to 6 participants.
