Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!
**************
Join me this month at Black Hole Studio as we sew the freshly released summer staple pattern from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club - the Sunny Side Top. Perfect styled with shorts, skirts, or trousers this one is sure to become a workhorse in your warm weather wardrobe.
We will be working through the pattern together, but you are welcome to work faster than the class pace if you feel comfortable. I want everyone to feel included and be able to participate with the group according to their comfort level.
Sewing elements to learn with this one:
How to choose the correct size for your body
Making pattern adjustments
Hem facing
Bias binding
What to bring:
- fabric : The Sunny Side Tank works beautifully in light to medium weight woven fabrics and is especially fun for lightweight, breathable, warm-weather fabrics. Linen creates a relaxed drape, cotton eyelet is beautifully dainty, and rayon or viscose creates a swingy silhouette.Make sure to wash your fabric before you get to class. (No one wants their finished garment shrinking!!)
- notions : matching sewing thread, bias binding (check the pattern for amounts)
- pattern : Please bring your printed pattern to the class ready to use. Find the pattern HERE
- sewing machine: There are 3 studio machines up for grabs, but you are welcome to bring your own machine. Details on how to reserve a studio machine are listed below.
