Indie Sew-Along : West End Jacket

  • City Sewing Room 6700 Arsenal Street St. Louis, MO, 63139 United States (map)

Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!

Join me for the first indie sew-along of the new year to make yourself the perfect jacket! The FREE West End Jacket pattern from Peppermint Magazine is a great pattern for those of you that have mastered beginning level patterns and are ready for some new, intermediate level techniques such as: bias bound seams, cuffs, buttonholes, and a COLLAR! And with gender neutral shaping, this is a great jacket to make for yourself or a friend.

This is an intermediate level pattern, so to take this class you must understand how to use a sewing machine and be able to read and follow a garment pattern.

You are welcome to bring your own machine or use one at the city sewing room.

What to bring:

- fabric : A mid - heavyweight woven fabric would be perfect for this pattern since the jacket is unlined. (just make sure you get something that your machine can manage!)

- pattern : Make sure to purchase and tape together your pattern before attending the event. (Trust me - you won’t regret getting it out of the way!) Get the pattern here.

You may also shop the Maker’s Mart at the City Sewing Room the evening of the event. Their fabric is donated from the community and there is always something unique. (plus most is only $2 a pound so you can plan to get enough for a few sweaters!).

If we do not meet the required minimum number of participants for a class at the City Sewing Room (3) I will let you know 24 hours before the event via email and will refund your class fee. Due to this, please send in your administration fee no later than 48 hours before the class.

The cost of this event is $30 and limited to 6 participants. Register for the event by filling out the form below and sending in your registration payment through PayPal or Venmo.
