Indie Sew-Along : Intermediate Knits The Lisa Cardigan

  • City Sewing Room 6700 Arsenal Street St. Louis, MO, 63139 United States (map)

Do you sew your own garments? Do you love to follow along with other makers on social media? Are you, like me, greatly inspired by all the patterns being designed and sewn by independent sewists all over the world? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then join me as we sew an indie garment pattern together!

This month we will be continuing with our knit fabric series as we sew the fabulous FREE indie Pattern from Seamwork; the Lisa Cardigan. This is a great pattern for those of you that have sewn a project or two with knit fabric and are ready to push yourself with a couple of new skills. Not to mention that I’m sure this will become not only a wardrobe staple, but is sure to also be a pattern you return to again and again. (I will post a link below where you can get and print the pattern pieces and sewing instructions.)

This is an intermediate level pattern, so to take this class you must understand how to use a sewing machine, read a garment pattern, and be competent sewing with knit fabric.

You are welcome to bring your own machine or use one at the city sewing room.

What to bring:

- fabric : Knits can be a bit tricky, so make that when you’re purchasing fabric it has 2 or 4-way stretch with at least 20% stretch around the width of the body.

- pattern : Make sure to purchase and tape together your pattern before attending the event. (Trust me - you won’t regret getting it out of the way!) Get the pattern here.

You may also shop the Maker’s Mart at the City Sewing Room the evening of the event. Their fabric is donated from the community and there is always something unique. (plus most is only $2 a pound so you can plan to get enough for a few sweaters!).

If we do not meet the required minimum number of participants for a class at the City Sewing Room (3) I will let you know 24 hours before the event via email and will refund your class fee. Due to this, please send in your administration fee no later than 48 hours before the class.

The cost of this event is $30 and limited to 6 participants. Register for the event by filling out the form below and sending in your registration payment through PayPal or Venmo.
